Spring Break, Mon...

By Julie

All in all, it was a blissful vacation! I could certainly get used to my boyfriend's grad school schedule since 'spring breaks' are no longer a thing of the distant past. We took advantage of a week-long vaca with friends in the Bahamas-- sand castle building tournaments, 5 o'clock (1 o'clock) happy hours, beach side barbecues and afternoon naps were daily indulgences.

Pretty Orchid Trees.
Mojitos and gingham- sure signs of warm weather.
A favorite beach find.
Gap bikini, Tiffany and Co. sunnies, H&M hat.
That's what you'd call fresh conch.
My new friend, Jaws.
Our adorable bungalow.
Sunset on the dock.
Stingrays I spotted by the boats.
An afternoon ritual.
Me and my honey.
As all our friends on the trip quickly learned, I have a major fascination/ intense fear of sea life. Believe it or not, it's safe to say that Shark Week is a close second to Fashion Week in my mind- I analyze, obsess and dream about it all. It's weird, but I'm proud to say that I snorkeled and faced one of my biggest fears head on- sharks! That said, we're all still much safer on the beach and that's where I'll remain. Been there, done that!

Have a great weekend, all! Any fun plans??

Punchy Patterns

By Julie

Dress: Milly (old, but similar to this and this), Bracelets: Vintage curated by Alice & Olivia (available at the Madison Ave Flagship), Shoes: C/O Nine West

To me, this dress combines just the right amount of modern prep, punchy prints and retro sophistication making it a perfect fit for beach club resorts and sunset cocktails.

The colorful prints and feminine silhouette speaks for itself so there was really no need to over-accessorize. Which, in my opinion, is a trend that is becoming a bit too played out as of late. Just sayin'.

What are your thoughts on the subject?? Spill it!

Honeymoon Photo Journal

By Lauren

I'm back from paradise, but you gotta love New York in the spring time. We had the most amazing vacation in Bora Bora for the past few days and I've compiled a little photo journal for you all. Though I drove my new hubby crazy taking pictures of my outfits each night, it's all worth it for a good post!

From Top to Bottom:
Our bungalow at the Four Seasons Bora Bora
Floral Kimono by Yumi Kim and Hoop Earrings by Patrick Schwartz, Sandals by Balenciaga
My new favorite Stewart Weitzman sandals that wrap around the ankle so well!
An amazing neon pink clutch from Michael Kors with my H&M denim jacket
Tie Dye Silk Dress from Calypso
Tory Burch Bracelet with H&M Orange Knit Tank and J.Crew Denim Shorts
My Favorite Bikini from Zimmerman

What are your go-to outfits for a tropical vacay?

Also, today Julie is being featured over on the blog from the girls at Luxury Garage Sale! So fun and love this insider interview. Be sure to check it out!

Orange You Glad We're Back!?

By Lauren

Yesterday, Julie showed you one of her favorite outfits from her Bahamian vacation, and today it's my turn. Stay tuned for a Bora Bora photo journal tomorrow and Julie's photo journal later in the week, but in the meantime, we are highlighting the looks we loved the most.

This Michael by Michael Kors jersey dress is tangerine perfection so once I received the earrings from Bauble Bar, I knew I had to pair them together. The shoes were just the cherry on top!

BahamaMama

By Julie

Happy Monday, loves!

Dress: DVF (similar here), Bracelet: C/O BaubleBar, Ring: David Yurman, Shoes: Ralph Lauren, Nails: Shellac Tropix

I'm already missing the white sands, afternoon cocktails, nightly games of charades and minimal cell phone service, but after a week in the Bahamas it's officially time for me to get back in the swing of things! A harsh reality making this Monday a particularly tough one.

I'll be posting more pics from my trip later in the week (swimming with sharks!), but wanted to share one of my favorite outfits from my vacation. The dress is so easy- breezy, I'm certain it will be one of my summer staples.

Don't you agree?

Our resident expert from the New York Design Center, Alana, has been kind enough to 'blogsit' while were away and contribute a guest post on one of her favorite spring trends! No stranger to B&B (see here, here and here), you can see why we just can't get enough of this girl about town.

Spring forward into a warmer season like you’ve got wings. Finally over the horror of seeing Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 “The Birds” as a child, I am now welcoming foul and lark alike into my every day wear. This notion of “spring” and rebirth leaves my mind pondering if our feathered friends bothered migrating south this season given New York’s unusually mild Winter. Either way, there’s a migrating trend for birds on and off the runway, that’s for sure.

I scoured some of my favorite websites and had no trouble finding bird prints and patterns. Whether it is bold and colorful, petite and monochromatic, or detailed and graphic—it seems the bird trend adds the right amount of life and whimsy to our Spring wardrobes. “…birds of a feather flock together…” – get out there and ruffle a few feathers into your dress code this spring!

Are you rocking this trend??

Cropped Jean Jacket

By Lauren

I'm one happy girl.

Jacket: H&M, Sweater Tank: H&M, Shorts: Madewell, Shoes: Bottega, Bracelet: H&M, Necklace: Kenneth Jay Lane

I have been hunting for a great cropped denim jacket for a while now (I usually borrow Julie's) and finally found the perfect little one at H&M. No surprise there! It will be the perfect topper to match with all of my dresses and keep me warm on those breezy nights on my honeymoon, which I am on as we speak! I'll let you know all the ways I wore it when I get back, but in the meantime, here is an outfit I packed to take with me.

I can't get enough of navy and orange for spring. How 'bout you??

Guest Post: Alex from Things That Sparkle!

Today we're thrilled to have a guest post from one of our favorite bloggers, Alex from Things that Sparkle. Alex's sweet personality combined with her sophisticated taste and keen eye for fashion and interiors makes TTS one of our first stops in our daily blogging routine. Who better to fill in while we're away?!

********

Hi all,  I am Alex from Things That Sparkle and Alexandra Berlin Design. I am so excited to be here today sharing some an interior inspired by fashion. Perfect fit for B&B right?
I saw this Alexander McQueen fabric and absolutely fell in love. The textures and the colors are absolutely stunning.

So I designed a room inspired by this beautiful textile.

The really feminine fabric, turned out to be a perfect jumping off point for a somewhat masculine infused space.

We could certainly makes ourselves at home, what'ya think?

Jumper-ing for Joy

By Lauren

In an effort to find amazing outfits for my honeymoon, but not hurt my wallet too badly, I found my way into BCBG and oh what a good move that was! This jumper fits so well and is such an easy one-piece outfit. It caught my eye because of the amazing pattern that looks a bit vintage Pucci or Versace to me, right? Paired with this lime green beaded bracelet, which has a magnetic closure, I was all set to go! I just love one-stop shopping!

Since I'm on my honeymoon by the time you are reading this, I wanted to leave you with outfit teasers. A better backdrop to come!

Jumper: BCBG, Bracelet: BCBG, Shoes: JCrew

Good find, right?!

Highlights of the Week

By Julie

It's been a crazy week here at B&B... Lauren got married and has jetted off to her honeymoon while I became an auntie to the cutest little bundle of joy! It's amazing how much I love her even though I haven't even met her yet. I'm planning a trip to San Fran to meet the little doll as we speak! I can hardly keep all the excitement straight, but here are a few highlights from my week.

Official bridal prep

A healthy reminder

Celebratory auntie cocktails at my fav West Village spot

Fun jewels at the DKNY+BaubleBar collab party

Packed and ready-to-go #flashingourbrights

To top it off, I'm headed to the Bahamas tomorrow for a week of faux Spring break (one of the perks of having a boyfriend in business school)! I've never been to the Bahamas, but am looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing on the beach. Cannot wait. In the event that I should venture out and about, have any suggestions?? Never been!

In the meantime, we're leaving you guys in good hands. We have some posts saved up and some blogger besties will be filling in for a few days so stay tuned and be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram for live trip updates. Ciao!

Spring Forward

By Julie

Top: H&M, Blazer: H&M, Jeans: JBrand, Shoes: C/O Nine West, Necklace: C/O BaubleBar,
Bangles: Vintage curated by Alice & Olivia, Ring: C/O Plukka, Bag: Bottega Veneta

It's been unseasonably warm the past few days in NYC and I'm thoroughly enjoying the spring transition! The longer days and warmer temps inspired this easy, nautical look. In my opinion, the accessories totally make the outfit. I'm loving the cork wedges, embellished necklace and spiked bullet ring-- cool edge with a touch of glam. Just the way I like it!

If you like my ring and want one yourself, it might just be your lucky day... Plukka, a brand new jewelry startup that offers all the chicest styles at 70-80% is launching their site with a 10-day giveaway event, here. Be sure to enter for your chance to win! Too cool, right?!

Best of luck and enjoy this warm weather!
